Therapeutic Modalities Offered
During first session, we will determine your therapeutic needs. The following is a list of some of the main modalities I work with in individual and family counseling. Interventions will be tailored throughout therapy to best facilitate change and healing.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): I am trained to provide EMDR. EMDR is an evidenced based modality to process traumatic events. Read more about it on EMDRIA.org. In addition, I am trained in the flash technique which can be read about on flashtechnique.com.
Sandtray Therapy: This modality uses a sandtray and miniatures to help clients construct their "inner world". It is a way to access children and adolescents indirectly and is often less intimidating than simply talking about what is bothering a client. Adults benefit from sand tray as well!
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy : This modality is effective for depression, anxiety and other general mental health issues. Learning how the brain works and is structured helps understand why we end up in the same struggles over and over. These techniques help clients to examine their thoughts, identify unhelpful thinking and create change.
Mindfulness : Mindfulness practices are incorporated in therapy. Leaning on Buddhist concepts of awareness, compassion and being in the present has been found to be a helpful therapeutic tool and agent for healing.
