Therapeutic Modalities Offered
Therapeutic Modalities Offered
During first session, we will determine your therapeutic needs. The following is a list of some of the main modalities I work with in individual and family counseling. Interventions will be tailored throughout therapy to best facilitate change and healing.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): I am certified in EMDR. EMDR is an evidenced based modality to process traumatic events. Read more about it on EMDRIA.org. In addition, I am trained in the flash technique which can be read about on flashtechnique.com.
Sandtray Therapy: This mod ality uses a sandtray and miniatures to help clients construct their "inner world". It is a way to access children and adolescents indirectly and is often less intimidating than simply talking about what is bothering a client. Adults benefit from sand tray as well!
Internal Family Systems: I am informed in IFS therapy. This type of therapy is incredibly effective and works to explore the parts of us.
Mindfulness: Mindfulness practices are incorporated in therapy. Leaning on Buddhist concepts of awareness, compassion and being in the present has been found to be a helpful therapeutic tool and agent for healing.
